About the role:
At MyPeople Disability and Support, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred support to adults living with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and other complex support needs.
The successful applicant will have previous experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, neurological conditions, reduced mobility, and behaviours of concern.
You will understand the importance of promoting independence, respecting each participant's individual preferences, and adapting your approach to meet their physical, emotional, communication, and support needs.
This role involves assisting participants with community access, transport to appointments and activities, social participation, and the development of independent living skills, while ensuring their safety, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.
You will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transport, supporting participants to engage in their local community, and delivering person-centred supports that align with their individual goals.
The ideal candidate will be compassionate, reliable, and able to respond calmly and professionally to a range of support needs while delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and person-centred care.
We are looking for someone who is confident in:
Supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, neurological conditions, and other complex support needs.
Assisting participants with community access, social participation, appointments, shopping, and recreational activities.
Providing safe and reliable transport while ensuring participants are supported to enter and exit vehicles safely and comfortably.
Encouraging independence, choice, and capacity building while respecting each participant's individual goals and preferences.
Building meaningful and skilled relationships with participants, their families, guardians, and the broader multidisciplinary support team.
Assisting participants with daily living activities and implementing person-centred supports in accordance with their individual support plans.
Promoting participants' dignity, inclusion, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
Communicating effectively with participants, families, Support Coordinators, Allied Health professionals, and MyPeople Disability and Support staff.
Providing support in a respectful, professional, reliable, and participant-centred manner.
Previous experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, neurological conditions, reduced mobility, or other complex support needs is highly desirable.

To Be Considered for This Opportunity, You Will Have
Previous experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, neurological conditions, or other complex support needs.
Experience providing community access supports, transport assistance, and encouraging participants to achieve their individual goals.
A strong understanding of person-centred practice, participant choice and control, and promoting independence.
The ability to build positive, professional relationships with participants, families, Support Coordinators, Allied Health professionals, and other members of the support team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to each participant's individual needs.
A compassionate, reliable, and proactive approach, with a genuine passion for empowering people with disabilities.
A minimum of 6 months' experience working within the disability, aged care, community services, or health sector.
A commitment to delivering safe, respectful, and high-quality supports while promoting dignity, inclusion, independence, and community participation.
Mandatory Requirements
A reliable vehicle and a current Australian Driver Licence.
Full Australian working rights.
A current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
Certificate IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or another relevant qualification (or currently studying).
A minimum of 6 months' experience in the disability or community services sector.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
The ability to commence employment immediately.
