The Valley Pub is Erindale's local pub, offering modern Australian pub dining in a welcoming and vibrant environment.
Our menu combines traditional pub favourites with fresh, modern dishes.
We are seeking a
qualified and experienced Chef
to join our kitchen team on a full time basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and develop menus featuring modern Australian pub cuisine, traditional pub favourites and seasonal specials, while estimating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies.
Prepare, cook and present a range of menu items, including steaks, schnitzels, parmys, share plates and other pub-style dishes, in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
Monitor the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation, cooking and presentation, including taste, temperature, portion size and appearance.
Discuss food preparation, service timing, dietary requirements, allergen concerns and other kitchen-related matters with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff.
Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking procedures, equipment use, portion control and presentation standards.
Explain, implement and enforce food safety, hygiene, sanitation and workplace safety requirements throughout the kitchen.
Monitor stock levels and oversee the correct receipt, storage, rotation, freezing and preservation of food to maintain freshness and minimise wastage.
Participate in the selection, training and supervision of kitchen staff, allocate duties and support effective teamwork during busy service periods.
Maintain a clean,
safe and organised kitchen while ensuring consistently high standards of food quality and presentation.
Skills and Experience
A minimum Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or an equivalent relevant qualification is mandatory.
At least three years of relevant full-time post-qualification work experience as a Chef.
Experience preparing modern Australian cuisine and traditional pub-style meals will be highly regarded.
Experience working in a busy, high-volume pub, hotel or restaurant kitchen is desirable.
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to work efficiently and maintain consistent quality standards during busy service periods.
Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills.
Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation
