Switch Steel Fabrication is seeking a skilled and experienced Boilermaker/Metal Fabricator to join our growing team in Hastings, Victoria.
This is a full time position based at our Hastings VIC **** facility.
As a Metal Fabricator, you will play a crucial role in our operations, transforming raw materials into precision metal components and structures that meet our clients' specifications.
This position is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality workmanship and on-time delivery in the welding and boilermaking industry.Key responsibilitiesInterpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints and specifications to fabricate metal components and structuresOperate and maintain various metal fabrication equipment.Perform precision measuring and marking of materials to ensure accurate cuts and bendsPrepare materials for welding by cleaning, degreasing and positioning componentsAssist welders and boilermakers by preparing assemblies and sub-assemblies as requiredConduct quality checks on completed fabrications to ensure they meet specified tolerances and standardsMaintain a safe and organised work environment,



adhering to all health and safety protocolsIdentify and report any defects or issues with materials or equipment to supervisorsCollaborate effectively with team members including welders, engineers and other fabrication staffContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback on fabrication processesWhat we're looking forTrade qualification or recognised apprenticeship in metal fabrication, welding, or a related tradeProven experience working as an architectural metal fabricator.
Architectural doors highly regarded.Competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprintsSound knowledge of various metal fabrication techniques and equipment operationStrong understanding of health and safety requirements specific to metal fabrication workAbility to work with precision and attention to detail, maintaining high quality standardsExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to identify issues with materials or processesStrong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environmentPhysical fitness and capability to perform manual labour tasks and lift heavy materialsReliability, punctuality and a commitment to workplace safety
