About the role
The position works with individuals and communities to eliminate, prevent and respond to domestic and family and sexual violence by:




Working with the Gunbalanya Secure House team to provide support to clients at critical times, including intake and exiting the service
Working closely with local agencies, including government and non-government service providers
Working closely with community members and local and trusted elders to seek local solutions and support initiatives aimed at reducing domestic, family and sexual violence in the community

Selection criteria
Previous experience in a similar role
Relevant qualification in community services, community development, and/or social work
Previous experience (minimum 2 years) working in remote Aboriginal communities
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by victims of domestic, family and sexual violence
Demonstrated crisis management experience
Proven written, oral and interpersonal communication skills




Ability to work as part of a team
Proven history of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with key external stake holders and referrers
Effective organisational and time management skills
Sound IT skills including use of database and data reporting programs
Experience with SHIP online case management system
Requirements/Qualifications
Eligible to work in Australia and willing to relocate to Gunbalanya
Valid Police clearance (not older than 6 months from date of issue)
Valid NT working with children check (Ochre card)
Current 'C' class Driver's Licence
Relevant qualification in community services, community development, and/or social work
