Melbourne Radiology Clinic (MRC) is offering a 12-month MRI/Musculoskeletal (MSK) fellowship programme in our busy East Melbourne practice, which can be tailored according to the successful candidate's needs, including a hybrid fellow/consultant role.
The programme is also suitable for a junior consultant wishing to upskill in the field of MSK radiology.
MRC maintains a close working relationship with neurosurgeons, neurologists, orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists, inner city and nearby suburban General Practitioners.
The clinic is also a FRANZCR accredited site for registrar training in collaboration with the Royal Melbourne Hospital as part of the Specialist Training programme (4-month registrar rotations).

The programme offers an equal mix of diagnostic and interventional workloadDiagnostic:MRI – Musculoskeletal, Spine, General MRI, on Siemens 1.5T Altea, as well as remote reporting from cooperative sites requiring our reporting expertise, which include 1.5 T and 3T platformsCT – Predominantly equal mix of general and MSK load, however overall, most of the CT work is interventional (see below)US and X-ray: an equal load of general and MSK cases, with the hands on MSK training with the aim of running an US room independently so as to be able to supervise sonographers,
efficiently problem solve difficult diagnostic cases independently as well as supervise and train current and future registrars on rotation, as well as future fellowsIntervention:CT: general spine and joint injections, including facet, epidural, nerve root and sacroiliac joint injections, other pain management procedures, Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) as well as MSK soft tissue and bone biopsiesUS: general MSK (bursal, small joints), RFA, MSK and other soft tissue biopsies, general biopsies and Fine Needle Aspiration, Autologous Blood Injections, Platelet Rich Plasma injections, Autologous tenocyte injectionsDedicated research time and support to present at local or international meetingsExtensive teaching case library, library of presentations and academic papers/articlesSalary is negotiable depending on experience and progress through programSuccessful candidate will possess:The ability to communicate effectively, work within our team and culture as well as have a thorough understanding of the service role provided by MRC to patients and referrers alikeExcellent general interventional & diagnostic interpretation skills and wanting to upskill in MRI, specifically MSKAbility to learn and adapt quickly, building up on previously taught concepts and knowledge in a fast- paced environmentAbility to work independently once trained and mentored accordingly
