, AustraliaJob Title/High Level Position SummaryWe are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer II to join our Enabling Technologies group, with a focus on Surgical Automation and Visualization.
This role will contribute to the design and development of advanced software solutions for orthopedic surgical navigation, machine interfaces, and augmented reality applications.
The Software Engineer will play a key role in building real-time, high-performance applications that integrate with optical navigation systems and surgical hardware to enhance surgeon workflows and improve patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate is passionate about building robust, user-centric software in a highly regulated medical device environment and thrives in team-oriented, cross-functional teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain software applications using C# and Unity for orthopedic surgical navigation and visualization systemsCollaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineering, clinical research, product management, and quality to define and deliver software requirementsIntegrate and optimize optical navigation technologies for real-time surgical tracking and visualizationSupport development of augmented reality and immersive visualization tools to enhance surgical planning and executionInterface with hardware components such as cameras, tracking systems,



and other platforms to enable system functionalityParticipate in verification and validation activities in collaboration with V&V; teams to ensure compliance with medical device standards and regulatory requirementsTroubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues to ensure system reliability and performanceDocument software architecture, design specifications, and testing procedures in alignment with development and regulatory standardsFollow Agile development practices and contribute to continuous improvement of software development processesSupport the development of scalable, maintainable, and high-performance software systemsScope / Role DimensionsSupports development of surgical navigation, and visualization software for orthopedic proceduresCollaborates closely with hardware, clinical, regulatory, and product teamsWorks within a highly regulated medical device environment with emphasis on safety, performance, and usabilityContributes to both current product development and sustaining engineering initiativesMinimum QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field2+ years of skilled software development experience using C# and UnityExperience developing software that interfaces with physical hardware systems (e.g., cameras, sensors, or tracking systems)Strong understanding of optical navigation systems and their application in surgical or healthcare environmentsExperience with software development lifecycle (SDLC), version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile methodologiesExperience with 3D visualization, real-time rendering, or game engine developmentStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work in complex technical environmentsDesired QualificationsExperience in medical device software development and familiarity with FDA and ISO standardsExperience with robotic surgical systems or navigation platformsUnderstanding of anatomy and biomechanics in orthopedic applicationsFamiliarity with cloud services, web technologies, and REST APIsExperience working in regulated,
