About the Role
The Ranger Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, mentoring and support to the Winjan Ranger team while assisting the Ranger Coordinator to deliver Healthy Country Work Plans and other environmental, cultural and community projects.
This role combines practical on-Country work with leadership responsibilities, helping Rangers develop their skills, confidence and connection to Country while ensuring projects are delivered safely and respectfully.
The Ranger Supervisor plays an important role in strengthening Aboriginal employment, cultural knowledge and caring for Bindjareb Noongar Boodja.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Ranger Coordinator, you will:
Lead, mentor and support the Winjan Ranger team in their day-to-day work.
Foster a respectful, positive and culturally safe team environment.
Coordinate and supervise on-Country activities including weed management, feral animal control,



fire management, revegetation, fencing and environmental restoration.
Assist in protecting and monitoring culturally significant places.
Support the implementation of Healthy Country Work Plans and Plans for Country.
Collect and oversee environmental data, GPS, GIS and drone mapping information.
Assist with cultural heritage and environmental surveys.
Support cultural safety inductions and cultural protocols across Winjan projects.
Encourage participation in cultural learning with Elders and knowledge holders.
Build strong relationships with community members, volunteers, Traditional Owners, government agencies and project partners.
Coordinate Ranger deployments, work plans, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and daily work schedules.
Monitor team attendance, timesheets and workplace performance.
Assist with reports, presentations and community engagement activities.
Ensure work is undertaken safely and in accordance with Winjan policies and procedures.
Camp on Country when required for project delivery.
Undertake other duties as directed by the Ranger Coordinator.

This is an Aboriginal identified position.

Experience leading, mentoring or supporting a team.
A genuine commitment to caring for Country, culture and community.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work.
Experience in land and water management, conservation or natural resource management.
Ability to supervise work safely and promote a positive team culture.
Willingness to learn from and work alongside Elders.
Ability to work independently while supporting others.
Willingness to work away from home and camp on Country when required.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful and drug and alcohol-free workplace.
Willingness to obtain or maintain First Aid certification.
Qualifications & Licences
Essential:
Current C Class Driver's Licence
National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)
Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
Desirable:
First Aid Certificate
ChemCert
Chainsaw accreditation
Four-wheel drive training
Fire management experience
Drone or GIS experience
Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (or willingness to obtain)
Employment Conditions
Part time – 30 hours per week.
Fixed-term contract until June ****.
Salary in accordance with the SCHADS Award plus superannuation.
