Job Description

Positive Thinkers Pty Ltd Arpad Aged Care is seeking a full-time Cook to join our dedicated kitchen team and prepare fresh, flavoursome meals for our residents each day. Working within our busy on-site kitchen, you will play an key role in producing traditional Hungarian and general cuisine while catering to a range of dietary, medical and cultural needs. In this role you will report to Head Chef and work closely with a positive and respected team.

Task & responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a daily variety of hot and cold meals, including traditional Hungarian dishes, for residents across the facility
- Portion and present meals attractively on plates, adding appropriate sauces, garnishes and accompaniments before service
- Prepare and adapt meals to meet residents’ special dietary, medical and cultural requirements, such as texture-modified, diabetic or allergen-free options
- Season and adjust the flavour of dishes throughout cooking to maintain consistent quality and taste
- Monitor and regulate the temperature of ovens, cooktops, grills and other kitchen equipment during food preparation
- Inspect ingredients and foodstuffs on delivery and during preparation to ensure freshness, quality and food-safety standards




- Store ingredients and prepared food correctly in temperature-controlled fridges and freezers in line with food-safety regulations
- Assist in planning resident menus and estimating the quantities of ingredients and supplies required
- Guide and support kitchen assistants and other staff to maintain smooth and hygienic kitchen operations

Qualification & experience

- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification recognised for the occupation)
- Minimum 1 years’ experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen, aged care, hospitality or catering environment
- Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and menu planning
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
- Ability to cater to special dietary and cultural requirements
- Good teamwork, time management and communication skills
