We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Finance Manager – Operations to join the leadership team. This senior operational position is responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the School’s finance function, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and the delivery of strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations, you will work closely with the School Leadership Team and associated entities to provide timely financial insights, support informed decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all operational finance activities, including general ledger, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Prepare and present monthly management reports, including financial analysis, variance reporting, and commentary.
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Manage cash flow, financial controls, banking relationships, and asset registers.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and coordinate interim and annual external audits.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory, taxation, regulatory, banking, and governance requirements.
- Provide financial modelling, scenario planning, and strategic financial advice to support organisational decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability,
accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Essential
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Significant experience in financial management, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to manage, coach, and develop high‑performing teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse school community.
- A high level of professional integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Strong systems and technology skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A current NSW Working With Children Check (paid employee).
Desirable
- Experience in an independent school or not-for-profit environment.
