About us
About the role
Glamorama is looking for a determined Marketing & Events Manager to lead our marketing, content and events strategy, with a clear mandate to grow revenue across the business.
The role has two key streams, with details below.
Stream 1: Marketing Strategy & Delivery
Stream 2: Events, Functions & Business Growth
This is a full-time role. The role is built around Monday to Friday hours, with occasional flexibility needed to ensure event delivery. This may include the ability to be a point of support from time to time to troubleshoot marketing, event or technical issues on an evening or weekend, or to attend a key event in person.
You will also manage the Marketing & Functions Assistant. Your job is to set the strategy, direct the roll-out, and assess the results to ensure long-term commercial growth across every part of the business.
What success looks like
- Revenue growth across Friday and Saturday nights, weeknight functions, day parties and public holiday events
- Increase function enquiries and improve conversion rate from enquiry to confirmed booking
- Growth in ticket sales, guest list numbers and booth bookings
- Positively trending social media engagements, including follower count, likes, shares, etc
- Improved SEO - stronger organic rankings for key local search terms and growth in organic website traffic and Google Business Profile visibility
- More efficient digital ad spend - improving cost per click and impressions and conversion rate across Meta and Google campaigns over time
- Effective use of our CRM - growth in repeat guest visitation, and stronger open and click-through rates on SMS/email campaigns
- Continued development of the Marketing & Functions Assistant - identifying key areas of growth, managing their up-skilling, and providing clear direction and support
Key responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Manage the Marketing & Functions Assistant effectively,
providing transparent direction, feedback and support
- Support the General Manager, Directors and Venue Manager with operational input as needed
Marketing Strategy
- Plan and run paid campaigns across Meta and Google Ads, and manage the marketing budget and spend allocation across channels
- Set social media strategy and direction across Instagram and TikTok
- Develop creative briefs and campaign concepts for relevant events or products
- Brief and manage design output for flyers, social and campaign creative
- Manage and define our SMS and email marketing strategy, using guest data to drive repeat business and door/guest list numbers
- Oversee website and ticketing platform structure and improvements
- Manage listings and promotion across ticketing and event discovery platforms
- Build and maintain relationships with promoters, artists, agents and the wider community
- Track and report on performance - ticket sales, door numbers, cost per acquisition, repeat attendance, campaign ROI and bar takings
- Support the management of our online reputation - Google reviews and responding to guest feedback
- Track competitor venues, pricing and campaigns, and stay attuned to the broader market, to keep our offering and positioning sharp
- Build partnerships with local businesses, media and the broader Fitzroy/inner-north nightlife and hospitality scene
- Champion innovative marketing strategies from ideation through to delivery, aimed at attracting new clients, events and audiences
Events, Functions & Business Development
- Chase, negotiate and independently confirm new event and function bookings, with a focus on expanding trade hours
- Build long-term relationships with recurring external stakeholders - university clubs and societies, promoters, touring agencies and brands
- Build and test VIP/regulars program concepts
- Maintain a strong read on the broader events scene and competitor activity - including a genuine understanding of Melbourne's nightlife and underground electronic music scene - keeping our calendar and marketing strategy accurate and well-timed
- Help manage contracts, deposits,
invoicing and payment terms for confirmed bookings
- Support event execution when required
- Track and report on revenue from confirmed bookings, enquiry-to-booking conversion rates, and calendar utilisation against targets
- Review and evolve venue deal packages and pricing based on demand, margin and competitor positioning
- Run post-event debriefs and gather client feedback to drive repeat bookings
Experience required
We're looking for:
- At least 2 years' experience in a Marketing Manager or similar role, ideally within hospitality, events or nightlife
- A track record of running paid campaigns, with examples of the commercial results you delivered - revenue, bookings or ROI you can point to
- Experience managing a budget and/or directing at least one other team member
About you
- Highly autonomous - confident making decisions and driving outcomes with minimal day-to-day oversight, while still thriving as part of a small, fast-paced team
- Strong IT knowledge, with advanced skills in at least one of: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects), Squarespace and Google Workspace, OpenTable, or Resolume/comparable AV software - plus general confidence picking up recent business software and platforms
- Comfortable reading campaign and website performance and adjusting activity based on it
- A strong passion for social media and content creation
- Moderate to advanced design/content creation skills (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) - if that's not a strength for you, you'll brief and manage an outsourced designer instead
- Comfortable using a CRM and guest data tools, and website/CMS platforms
- Loves the hospitality/nightlife scene and is good at connecting with people
- A clear, confident communicator - with clients, creatives and the venue team alike
- Highly adaptable and good at problem solving
- Curious about AI tools and keen to bring them into day-to-day work
Nice to have
- An interest in learning venue technical systems - DJ equipment, sound and lighting. This isn't required and we'll train the right person, but it's a genuine opportunity to build hands-on technical skills most marketing roles never offer
- Videography and editing skills
- Comfortable on camera for social content
Why Work With Us?
- Join a tight-knit, passionate team with a collaborative culture
- Be part of a well-established venue with a strong brand and loyal following
- Opportunity to shape the future of Glamorama
