The Role

Want to get away from the hustle and bustle, to a beautiful clean, picturesque island environment for a four month contract? The rural issues and stories in North West Tasmania are diverse and interesting and range from berries, beef, timber, dairy, vegetable cropping and mining, just to name a few. You will gain knowledge about food production in the region's fertile food bowl and enjoy stunning natural landscapes.

The Job

Based in either the Burnie or Launceston as part of the Northern Tasmania bureau, you will be:

- Out and about in the countryside, away from crowds visiting farms and chasing up rural yarns.
- Presenting your own radio rural report and contributing to the Country Hour and occasionally presenting.
- Writing local and national digital rural stories and primary industry content.
- Developing video stories for 7pm, News Channel and socials.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Reporter able to work in a small team, with sound editorial skills, a valuable knowledge of local agricultural issues, with the ability to source and analyse information and exercise sound judgement. You will also have the opportunity to create innovative video and audio content for the 7pm state News and News Channel and socials and work closely with News and Rural teams.

You will be able to demonstrate;





- A creative approach to content construction and delivery, with experience in live presentation and broadcast.
- Good digital, audio and video skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships with people from a range of diverse backgrounds.
- An interest or understanding of Agriculture, exposure to rural environments or demonstrated equivalent experience in primary industries.

You will also be in possession of a current and valid Driver’s Licence with a willingness and flexibility to travel to remote locations
