Deckhand – Join Melbourne River Cruises!

Love being on the water? Melbourne River Cruises is looking for a motivated and reliable Deckhand to join our team.

What We Offer

- 20-30 hours per week
- Full training provided across multiple vessels
- Opportunity to assist our Captains and gain hands-on experience operating vessels on the Yarra River
- Career pathway support for those interested in obtaining maritime qualifications and progressing towards becoming a qualified Master
- Be part of Melbourne's thriving tourism industry, welcoming guests from around the world
- Work across our fleet of seven vessels, including sightseeing cruises, private charters, party cruises, and the iconic Spirit of Melbourne Cruising Restaurant

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing vessels for daily operations and packing down after service
- General cleaning, presentation, and basic maintenance of vessels
- Checking tickets and assisting passengers with boarding and enquiries
- Serving food and beverages from our onboard snack bar




- Refuelling vessels and carrying out end-of-day shutdown procedures
- Assisting the Captain with the safe and effective operation of cruises

Qualifications & Experience

- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays
- Must be based in Melbourne
- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate, or willingness to obtain one
- Previous experience in hospitality, boating, or maintenance is highly regarded
- A friendly, customer-focused attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Reliable, proactive, and willing to learn
