Parental Leave Cover Monday -Friday 6 months

Lead with purpose. Shape care. Build a team that makes a difference.

Avive Health is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to join us on a six‑month parental leave contract Monday - Friday, leading our inpatient and day patient services on the Mornington Peninsula

Avive Health is a new kind of private mental health provider. Clinician‑led, trauma‑informed, and purpose‑built from the ground up, we deliver a more connected and compassionate model of care. We believe a patient’s time in hospital is just one chapter in a longer journey of therapy, recovery, and growth.

As demand for our services continues to grow, strong, values‑led clinical leadership is essential. This role is an opportunity to shape standards, influence culture, and support a high‑performing nursing team within a modern, integrated mental health service.

Why join Avive?

- Supportive clinical leadership with a clear and shared purpose

- A growing service where your leadership genuinely shapes the model of care

- A strong focus on trauma‑informed practice and patient‑centred outcomes

- Innovative systems designed to support quality and reduce administrative burden

- Salary aligned with the Victorian Nursing Award, plus salary packaging and superannuation

- Employee Health and Wellbeing Program

- A culture that promotes learning, accountability, and continuous improvement

About the role

As Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide operational and clinical leadership across inpatient and day patient programs. You will ensure the safe, effective and evidence‑based delivery of care while maintaining high standards of clinical governance, workforce capability, and patient experience.

- Leading and managing nursing services within the allocated unit

- Coordinating patient flow, bed management, and demand capacity planning

- Ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix across all shifts

- Acting as a clinical resource and role model for nursing staff

- Supporting and mentoring team members, including performance development

- Contributing to quality improvement, accreditation and risk management programs

- Managing KPIs and working within established budgets

- Leading incident reporting and promoting a no‑blame safety culture

- Participating in multidisciplinary care planning and service development

You will balance operational oversight with hands‑on clinical leadership, stepping into direct patient care where required.

What you bring

- Registered Nurse with demonstrated clinical experience in a mental health setting

- Previous leadership experience in an ANUM or NUM role

- Strong knowledge of relevant State and Federal legislation, including privacy and medication regulations

- Understanding of NSQHS Standards and accreditation processes

- Proven ability to manage workforce planning, performance development, and team culture

- Confidence in managing competing priorities in a energetic healthcare environment

- Commitment to high standards of care, safety, and ethical practice

- Current Police Check and evidence of required immunisations

You are a steady and capable leader. You set expectations clearly, support your team consistently, and hold standards without losing sight of compassion. You understand that strong clinical governance and positive workplace culture go hand in hand.

Our commitment

At Avive Health, we are committed to delivering the right care at the right time through integrated mental health services. We believe well‑trained, honest and motivated people are our greatest asset.

If you are ready to lead with purpose and contribute to a growing mental health service that values innovation, professionalism and genuine care, we would love to hear from you.
