This position is only open to applicants of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent pursuant to Section 56 (2) of the Equal Opportunity Act, 1984.

As a Senior Aboriginal Family Practitioner (AHP2) or Aboriginal Family Practitioner (AHP1), you will combine culturally appropriate support methods to assist Aboriginal families with high and complex needs. Following a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) roster of 8 days on and 6 days off, you will work across the picturesque landscapes of the Coober Pedy and the APY Lands . The role will provide specialised care services for children and young people outside of metropolitan Adelaide. Combining innovative techniques and a holistic approach to child development will offer meaningful outcomes for clientele and bolster your own relational and community contributions.

This is a single vacancy offered under a dual classification . The successful applicant will be appointed at the appropriate classification level based on their qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.

- A degree level qualification inSocial Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.





Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).

As a Senior Aboriginal Family Practitioner, you will:

- Implement specialised knowledge to help Aboriginal families resolve personal issues through compassion and understanding
- Develop innovative support strategies to elevate service delivery for Aboriginal families
- Oversee partnerships with external agencies to bolster existing care services.

As an Aboriginal Family Practitioner, you will:

- Enact response measures to notifications of child abuse and outcomes of investigations concerning Aboriginal families
- Review progress goals of Aboriginal families through dedicated cultural interventions
- Assist families to connect with important community-based services and networks to address personal difficulties and needs.

About you:

- You effectively identify service delivery trends to heighten support measures for Aboriginal clients
- You possess exemplary knowledge of crisis intervention and issues that affect Aboriginal families
- You can successfully enact culturally informed resolution strategies to safeguard children and young people




- You have high-level written and verbal communication skills to provide optimal standards of professional service
- You are a highly organised individual who can meet deadlines and fulfil workloads.

AHP2: $94,997 - $110,052 + 12% super AHP1: $73,710 - $89,981 + 12% super +4% child protection allowance +Regional financial incentive +Professional Development Allowance +Qualification Allowance may apply if you hold an additional qualification relevant to the role. AHP2 positions are also entitled to claim reimbursement of eligible professional development expenses through the Professional Development Allowance.
