We are looking for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team and help make a difference
In this role, as the Senior Specialist Behaviour Support Consultant, you will provide specialist high-quality behaviour support assessment and intervention for patients who are exhibiting challenging/complex behaviours (or potential behaviours of concern), to optimise health outcomes, facilitate engagement in healthcare and minimise the use of restrictive practices.
You will have the opportunity to formulate complex assessments and interventions, demonstrating a solid knowledge of evidence-based disability, mental health clinical and psychosocial interventions, positive behaviour support principles and strategies, service development and practice.
About the role:
Some of your duties as the Behaviour Support Practitioner may involve:
- Interpreting information, observation and assessment findings to formulate and implement positive behaviour support interventions in collaboration with patients, families/carers and the multidisciplinary team.
- Management of a complex caseload and workload allocation, ensuring services to clients meet demand.
- Identifying high-risk behaviours and evaluating the risk posted by that behaviour to the person and others.
About you:
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
- Extensive experience working with patients with complex needs.
- Experience in delivering specialist behaviour support services including behaviour assessments and behaviour support plans.
- Experience with initiating and completing change management processes and service improvement activities.
- Demonstrated high level competency and extensive knowledge in behaviour support assessment and best practice intervention approaches to supporting a range of consumers demonstrating complex behaviours.
- Ability to implement and evaluate behaviour support and risk management plans associated with complex behaviours.
