About the position

The Farmgate Mental Health Worker supports individuals, families, and communities with their social and wellbeing needs using an assertive outreach model, case management, community engagement and individual counselling.

The position also plays a key role in community engagement, helping strengthen resilience, connection, and wellbeing across farming communities experiencing uncertainty, stress, or disruption. They will be proactive in building networks to promote the work of GCH, the model of engagement and to engage supports for individuals and families.

The worker is expected to remain flexible and up to date on evolving needs, opportunities and issues and to attend community events as required.

Skills and experience

Qualifications

- Qualifications in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology, Mental Health, Counselling
- Or relevant equivalent studies

Mandatory

- Demonstrated counselling experience and care coordination for people who have experienced psychological distress.
- Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills with the capacity to communicate effectively, using a variety of modes as relevant, with a wide range of clients and service providers in a clear and appropriate manner for the purpose and audience, including those who are hesitant to seek support

Desirable

- A strong understanding of the needs and issues facing regional, rural and remote communities including working within privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Registration with relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, ACA, PACFA, etc.)
