Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care-ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. An excellent opportunity is available for Registered Nurses to join the Diabetes Service as a Diabetes Educator.

This imperative role will see you provide comprehensive support and education to people with diabetes, their family-support groups, and the community. This is a great opportunity to work collaboratively utilising effective team communication with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of patient care and to act as an advocate for the specific needs of all patients-clients and carers including those from the multi-cultural groups. The incumbent will maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical nursing practice,



adherence to the policies and procedures of the Nursing and Midwifery Service, NBMLHD and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

What you will bring to the role

- Current registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Completed Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Management and Education, working towards or equivalent experience
- Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) or eligible for CDE or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated effective communication skills - both written, verbal and electronic. This includes a working knowledge of EMR, Office applications, use of Telehealth platforms, Internet data retrieval and formal correspondence to consumers and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work while balancing patient caseload, service demands and multidisciplinary collaborative projects
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
- Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
