The New Vehicle Sales Consultant is responsible for guiding customers through the new vehicle buying process, delivering high-quality service and the best solution to meet customer needs. The role builds and maintains customer relationships, drives new vehicle sales, and ensures every customer interaction reflects the dealership's standards and brand.
Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
- Greet each customer promptly and courteously upon arrival
- Provide a high level of customer service through accurate, timely, and courteous handling of enquiries
- Handle new vehicle customers in line with dealership sales process and policy
- Conduct vehicle delivery in line with dealership procedures
- Follow up and resolve customer requests and complaints
- Prospect for customers using mailers, phone, personal contacts, and referrals
- Maintain an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat business and generates leads
- Develop and maintain a daily record of all enquiries (telephone, walk-in, internet)
Aftermarket & F&I; Introductions
- Introduce all clients (at point of sale) to the Aftermarket Sales Consultant
- Introduce clients to the Business Manager / Finance and Insurance Manager
- Introduce each customer to the Service Manager on delivery, who will explain servicing procedures and other services offered
Vehicle Preparation & Presentation
- Test drive and examine the condition and specification of new vehicles ahead of delivery
- Check trade-in vehicles against valuation
- Explain the vehicle service book and warranty to the customer
- Ensure demonstration vehicles are kept clean and professionally presentable
- Rearrange display vehicles as required, or at the direction of the Recent Vehicle Sales Manager
Administration
- Complete all sales documents accurately and promptly
- Ensure desk and office area is kept organised and presentable
Product Knowledge & Professional Development
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all current product benefits and features including models, series, specifications, prices, colours, options, packs, and accessories
- Maintain a sound knowledge of competitive products
- Utilise all product information made available by the manufacturer and line manager
- Attend training programs as requested by management
Quality Assurance
- Complete all relevant paperwork accurately and promptly
- Report customer complaints and conditions affecting operational efficiency
- Maintain adherence to the quality assurance system
- Make suggestions for process improvements as appropriate
Workplace Health & Safety
- Avoid unsafe work practices and comply with WHS standards and company policy
- Maintain a clean workspace and follow security procedures where applicable
- Report all accidents and potential hazards to the line manager
- Foster positive workplace relations and team morale
- Support the line manager and team members as required
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings as required
- Perform other duties as reasonably directed
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a sales role (automotive preferred)
- Ability to work to KPIs and meet sales targets
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
