About The Opportunity

An exciting chance is available for an Assistant in Nursing – Program Therapy Team to join baiangbaiyaang, a statewide specialist eating disorder service within Hunter New England Local Health District. This role is ideal for an Assistant in Nursing or a student currently undertaking Registered Nurse training who is passionate about supporting people experiencing eating disorders within a mental health rehabilitation framework. Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team of nursing, medical and allied health professionals, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of therapeutic programs that address both the physical and mental health needs of clients. As part of this innovative and purpose-built service, you'll have the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills while contributing to a recovery-oriented model of care that supports clients and their families throughout their treatment journey. You'll receive comprehensive orientation, whole-of-service training and team-building activities before the service commences, ensuring every member of the team starts together with the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed. Ongoing support will be provided by the Residential Eating Disorders Centre (REDC) Manager, Registered Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, with opportunities for professional development and continued learning throughout your employment.

What You Will Be Doing

- Work as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team delivering therapeutic, recovery-focused care to people receiving treatment for eating disorders.
- Work across a 7-day rotating roster.
- Assist clients during meal support and therapeutic group activities.
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
- Assist with activities of daily living while promoting independence and recovery.
- Observe and report changes in clients' physical and mental health.




- Build positive therapeutic relationships with clients and their families.
- Work collaboratively with nursing, medical and allied health professionals to support individual recovery goals.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, welcoming and recovery-focused environment.
- You'll be part of a service that includes:
- Residential Eating Disorders Centre (REDC): a purpose-built 12-bed residential facility providing intensive specialist treatment for people aged 16 years and over within a homelike rehabilitation environment.
- Eating Disorder Day Program (EDDP): a structured four-day-per-week therapy program offering meal support, psychoeducation and skills-based group interventions that complement ongoing community care.

About You

- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing) or be currently undertaking Registered Nurse studies.
- An interest in, or experience working with, people experiencing eating disorders or mental health conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A warm, respectful and compassionate approach to care.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A willingness to learn and develop specialist knowledge in eating disorder treatment.
- A commitment to partnering with clients and families throughout recovery.
- Flexibility to work across a 7-day rotating roster.
