EL1 Specialist Advisor, Employment Suitability and Workforce Integrity

Start: ASAP Role Type: Full Time (08:30am till 5:00pm) Contract: Until 31 December 2026, with potential for extension Locations: Regional NSW - Newcastle, Charlestown, Grafton, Lismore, Coffs Pay Rate: $602.55 Daily + super Work Rights: Australian Citizen required

Key Responsibilities

- Framework Development: Lead the design, consultation, and implementation of a contemporary employee suitability framework covering the entire employment lifecycle, ensuring alignment with protective security and personnel security policies.
- Suitability Assessment & Expert Advisory: Apply vetting and suitability assessment principles to complex workforce cases; provide authoritative advice on potential risks, suitability concerns, and appropriate mitigations.
- Pre-Employment Screening: Strengthen pre-employment screening settings by ensuring proportional checks are aligned to role risk, and integrate screening into recruitment workflows.
- Ongoing Monitoring & Risk Management: Develop practical, risk-informed approaches to ongoing suitability, establish triggers for review, and support the management of integrity-related workforce risks.
- Governance & Workstream Leadership: Assist in identifying positions with elevated integrity or access requirements, lead complex workstreams, mentor staff, and build strong collaborative relationships across Cyber, Legal, Fraud, and Risk teams.
- Policy & Briefings:



Refresh and maintain relevant policies and procedures while preparing high-quality papers, decision records, and executive briefings.

Skills & Experience Required

- Demonstrated experience with the Personnel Security Lifecycle.
- Experience applying PSPF requirements to workforce lifecycle processes (recruitment, onboarding, suitability assessments, ongoing monitoring, cessation).
- Significant experience in vetting, suitability assessment, personnel security, or equivalent integrity-based roles.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex personal information and determine suitability against defined standards.
- Proven experience developing or applying structured frameworks, risk criteria, or assessment methodologies.
- Robust written analysis skills, including preparing suitability assessments, decision records, or briefs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Qualification of Certificate IV in Government Security (Personnel Vetting).
- Highly developed judgement and decision-making skills, balancing risk, procedural fairness, and operational requirements.
