Senior Lawyer | 12-month secondment opportunity
Lawmee is a tech-enabled marketplace used by 250+ law firms and companies, providing lawyers with direct access to secondment and interim opportunities. The marketplace includes opportunities with ASX-listed companies, multinationals, GTEs, private businesses, and law firms.
We are currently working with an ASX-listed major energy provider to secure an experienced lawyer for parental leave cover.
Commencing in September, this chance is expected to run for up to 12 months.
About the role:
Reporting to the Group Counsel, you will act as a trusted legal adviser to stakeholders across asset operations, development, finance and procurement functions. You will play a key role in supporting strategic business objectives while providing commercially focused legal advice in a complex and fast-paced environment.
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Lead legal matters relating to the operation and maintenance of large and small-scale generation assets, including renewable, thermal and gas operations.
- Support tenders, construction projects and dispute resolution matters.
- Lead legal support for project development at existing and greenfield sites.
- Advise on energy transition and site rehabilitation matters.
- Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including EPC contracts, operation and maintenance agreements, works, services and supply agreements, coal supply agreements, confidentiality agreements and leases.
- Proactively identify and manage legal and commercial risks.
- Manage external stakeholders, including legal advisers and key counterparties in commercial negotiations.
Who we are looking for:
We’re seeking lawyers with 7-10+ years’ PAE, ideally gained in leading national or international firms or within pre-eminent in-house teams. This role requires an experienced, commercially minded lawyer capable of operating autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in construction, energy, resources or major projects sectors will be highly regarded. While the preference is for a Melbourne-based lawyer, lawyers located in Sydney or Perth will also be considered where they have the appropriate experience.
