About the role Airtasker is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer for a 12‑month contract to cover parental leave. This role focuses on delivering mobile features for both iOS and Android platforms using an agent‑driven development approach. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing solutions through AI‑assisted workflows, ensuring high production standards.

What you’ll do

- Deliver mobile features by writing clear specifications and acceptance criteria, then guiding and verifying agent‑led implementations.
- Create agent workflows to address common team challenges, defining boundaries and human intervention points.
- Maintain and organize documentation like repository maps, architectural summaries, and decision logs to enhance agent effectiveness.
- Manage the entire delivery process, including clarifying requirements, conducting technical research, and resolving obstacles.
- Oversee the full release cycle for production apps, from store submission and phased rollouts to crash monitoring.
- Collaborate with Product, Data, and Design teams to achieve key mobile roadmap objectives.

Requirements

- Strong native iOS development skills in Swift and native Android development skills in Kotlin, with experience shipping and maintaining production applications on both platforms.
- Deep understanding of mobile architecture and platform fundamentals, including lifecycle management, state handling, offline capabilities, performance, and memory optimization.
- Proficiency with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) across the entire development process, from exploration and implementation to refactoring, debugging, testing, and documentation.
- A spec‑first approach to work,



breaking down tasks into agent‑executable units with explicit constraints and acceptance criteria.
- A habit of identifying root causes when AI outputs are incorrect, focusing on improving prompts, context, or plans rather than just addressing symptoms.
- Strong commitment to the product and the commercial context of your team's operations.

Nice to have

- Experience with React Native or other cross‑platform technologies, including native modules and bridging.
- Familiarity with mobile CI/CD practices, such as Fastlane, code signing, and automated store deployments.
- Background in designing multi‑step or multi‑agent systems, including orchestration and human‑agent handoffs.
- Experience with instrumenting and evaluating AI workflows, including metrics, regression checks, and trade‑offs in cost, latency, and quality.
- Experience with marketplace or two‑sided platform models.
