About The Role

Make a real impact in the Ipswich community as a Compliance Officer in Ipswich City Council’s Animal Management and Biosecurity team supporting community safety and legislative compliance.

You will undertake investigations and apply Council’s Local Laws, the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 and other relevant legislation to help deliver fair, consistent and effective outcomes for the community.

Key Responsibilities

- Investigate animal management matters, including gathering evidence, taking statements and conducting interviews.
- Provide clear, practical advice to customers, community members and stakeholders.
- Apply procedures, policy and legislation to animal management matters such as dog attacks, registrations and noise nuisance complaints.
- Conduct field-based property inspections by liaising with owners and occupiers about legislative compliance and enforcement matters.

About You

- The ability to undertake investigations and make sound, fact‑based decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to manage challenging and sensitive situations, including inspections and animal‑related incidents.
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks in a responsive operational environment.
- Resilience, adaptability and a collaborative approach to working as part of a supportive team.
- An understanding of compliance or regulatory functions; direct compliance experience is beneficial but not essential.
- A Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or similar type experience.

This permanent full-time position offers a salary of up to $104,284 plus 12.5% superannuation and on-call allowances available.
