If you're an experienced nursing leader who thrives on strategic thinking, operational excellence, and leading high-performing teams through change,About the RoleReporting to the senior leadership team, you'll provide both strategic and operational leadership across a broad portfolio including:Surgical inpatient servicesOrthopaedic and General SurgerySurgical outpatient servicesElective surgery coordination and waitlist oversightSpecialist nursing servicesPartnering and working collaboratively with the executive, medical and multidisciplinary teams, you'll ensure exceptional patient outcomes while delivering safe, efficient and sustainable services aligned with Hunter New England Health's strategic direction.What You'll Be DoingLead operational planning and service delivery across Surgical ServicesDrive innovation and continuous improvement initiativesEnsure outstanding clinical governance,
patient safety and quality outcomesOversee workforce planning, financial performance and resource managementBuild and mentor high-performing multidisciplinary teams including orthopaedics, general surgical, speciality nurses and outpatient teamsPartner with clinical leaders to improve patient flow, elective surgery performance and service outcomesInfluence the future direction of surgical services within a rapidly expanding facilityAbout YouCurrent registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialty area is desirable, and/or demonstrated relevant leadership or management experienceProven leadership experience managing large clinical teamsExperience within surgical services, ideally including Orthopaedics or General SurgeryA strategic mindset with the ability to balance operational demands with long-term service planningDemonstrated experience leading change and driving innovationStrong clinical governance, quality improvement and stakeholder engagement skillsExperience managing budgets, workforce planning and service performanceExperience with elective surgery and surgical waitlist management is highly desirableWhy Join Maitland HospitalMaitland Hospital is one of New South Wales's newest and fastest-growing health facilities, purpose-built to deliver world-class healthcare in a modern, state-of-the-art environment.
