It is one of the largest religious organisations in Australia with over 400 congregations and faith communities across NSW and ACT.The Synod of NSW and ACT is guided by the values of Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Compassion, and supported by the Synod Mission Services team, which provides strategic, pastoral, and operational support to enable vibrant congregations, vital leadership, and transformative community engagement.About the RoleAs Lecturer in Global Christianity, you will contribute to UTC's teaching, research, and ministry formation with a focus on global Christianity, theologies of mission, ecumenism and interfaith dialogue.You will play a key role in shaping students as thoughtful, theologically informed leaders, while contributing to the spiritual, communal, and academic life of the College.Reporting to the Principal, this role blends academic teaching, research, and church leadership, with active engagement across the Synod of NSW/ACT and the wider Uniting Church.
You will also contribute to the Charles Sturt University School of Theology, meeting its academic standards and expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and deliver teaching (face-to-face and online) in global Christianity, mission,



ecumenism and interfaith dialogueFoster critical theological engagement and respect for diverse perspectives among studentsSupervise higher degree research students and contribute to scholarly research outputMaintain an active research profile aligned with Charles Sturt University expectationsContribute to curriculum design and interdisciplinary teachingSupport the formation of candidates for specified ministry and lay leadershipParticipate in worship, spiritual formation, and community life at UTCProvide theological leadership within the NSW/ACT Synod and wider Uniting ChurchEngage collegially with faculty, church leaders, and academic partnersContribute to academic administration and governanceAbout YouYou are an experienced theologian and educator who brings both academic rigour and a commitment to teaching and ministry formation.
You are comfortable working across cultures and theological perspectives, and are passionate about preparing leaders for the contemporary church.Qualifications & RequirementsPhD (or equivalent) in TheologyMembership of the Uniting Church in Australia or a related Christian denominationEligibility to work in AustraliaDemonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Basis of Union and ethos of the Uniting ChurchWillingness to work flexibly,



including occasional evening teachingSkills & ExperienceTertiary teaching experience and demonstrated ability to engage students effectivelyResearch expertise (or emerging profile) in global Christianity, mission, ecumenism, or interfaith dialogueExperience in cross-cultural theological education and/or ministry formationDemonstrated ability to work with diverse theological and cultural perspectivesStrong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skillsAbility to contribute to academic leadership, curriculum development, and innovationExperience supervising or capacity to supervise research studentsWhy Join Us?
