We are seeking a dedicated and organised Medical Receptionist to join our team at Surgical Specialist.
This is a full-time position based in Norwest, NSW ****.
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and a vital member of our administrative team.
You will play a key role in ensuring our practice operates smoothly whilst delivering exceptional patient care and support to our surgical specialists and medical staff.
Key responsibilities
Greeting patients in a warm and professional manner and managing patient arrivals and departures
Scheduling and confirming patient appointments using practice management systems
Managing patient records and ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete and properly filed
Handling patient enquiries and directing them to the appropriate staff member
Processing patient payments and managing billing procedures as well as medicare and insurance claims.
Answering telephone calls and responding to patient communications promptly and courteously
Preparing treatment rooms and ensuring they are clean, organised and stocked with necessary supplies
Assisting with patient registration and intake procedures
Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy legislation and practice protocols
Supporting the medical team with administrative tasks as required
Coordinating referrals and specialist communications
What we're looking for
High school certificate or equivalent qualification
Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role
Minimum of 2+ years experience as a medical receptionist or in healthcare administration
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Proficiency with practice management software and Microsoft Office applications
Professional telephone manner and customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy environment
Understanding of patient confidentiality and medical privacy legislation
Friendly, empathetic and patient-focused approach
Reliability and commitment to punctuality
A valid Australian driver's licence is preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology is a must.
