Our client is a boutique operation with a strong reputation in its sector and a finance function that offers genuine breadth for someone ready to take the next step in their career.The RoleBased in the South East, this is a newly created opportunity offering excellent exposure across financial accounting, management reporting, commercial analysis, statutory compliance and business improvement initiatives.
In a smaller, close-knit team, you'll get far closer to the numbers and the decision-making than you would in a larger corporate finance function.
This role would suit a technically strong accountant currently working within a boutique or private client Chartered Accounting environment, looking to make their first move into a commercial setting.Key responsibilities include:Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, robust internal controls and resolution of complex queriesPreparing month-end journals, reconciliations and financial reporting outputs, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and compliance with reporting deadlinesProducing management reports, budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and performance insights to support business decision-makingMonitoring revenue, costs,



margins and overall financial performance across the businessSupporting compliance with internal controls, policies and financial governance frameworksIdentifying and implementing process improvements, automation opportunities and cost-saving initiatives within the finance functionContributing to systems and process improvement projects as the finance function continues to evolveAssisting with statutory reporting, external audits and taxation requirements, including GST, BAS, FBT and Payroll Tax obligationsBuilding effective relationships across the business and supporting the broader finance team as requiredAbout YouBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or CommerceCA qualified, or well progressed towards completionCurrently based within a smaller, private client-focused Chartered Accounting firm, with strong exposure to high-net-worth individuals and their business structuresReady to make a first move from practice into a commercial environmentStrong technical accounting, reporting and reconciliation skillsIntermediate to advanced Excel skills, with the ability to pick up ERP systems quicklyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a businessA proactive, detail-oriented approach with a genuine interest in process improvementClient details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.
