Our services include support for independent living (accommodation support).

Our Disability Support Workers have the following opportunities:

Two weeks of paid induction and upon successful completion of induction up to one week of paid service centre training

Five weeks per year of vacation time when working full shift rotation
What would my day look like as a Disability Support Worker?
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Performing daily household tasks with participants that can include menu planning, cooking, and serving meals, cleaning, shopping, laundry, bed making and light garden activities
Assisting participants to maintain relationships with their family, friends, and advocates
Helping participants develop and maintain personal independence within their home with personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, showering and safe and enjoyable mealtimes
Assisting participants in their personal and health care by providing support with medication ensuring correct dosages as prescribed, seizure response, and health needs
It is highly desirable that all employees continue to be vaccinated against COVID19 in line with health advice and their own personal circumstances.
The department will continue to comply with any future public health requirements and consider recommendations from government authorities in relation to COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of the department's employees and clients.
Mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations are not required for Residential Care Officers.
