Take a leadership role managing a $2 billion Commonwealth investment fund
Lead complex negotiations across securitisation transactions
Join a small, high-impact team focussed on the funding of small to medium business
The Organisation
The Australian Office of Financial Management (AOFM) is one of the country's most significant financial institutions. As the agency responsible for managing the Commonwealth's debt and financial assets, the AOFM operates at the intersection of sovereign markets, fiscal policy, and international capital flows. It manages the issuance of Australian Government Securities (AGS) and works closely with Treasury to ensure the government's financing needs and policy objectives are met efficiently and transparently. The Government has also tasked the AOFM with implementing securitisation market interventions, including the GFC and the Covid-19 pandemic responses, and the currently active Australian Business Securitisation Fund (ABSF).
The AOFM's Front Office is a compact, experienced team that punches well above its weight in global markets. It is a place where intellectual rigour, market knowledge, and collaborative working are the norm. People who join the AOFM consistently cite the calibre of their colleagues, the significance of the effort, and the quality of life that comes with it as the value of their work.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Investments, the Investment Manager (APS EL1) will take a leadership role in managing new and existing ABSF investments. The role covers oversight of investment documentation terms, negotiation with originators,

and leadership of commercial negotiations across transaction documentation, including credit enhancement requirements, pricing, intercreditor rights, portfolio parameters and eligibility criteria. The Investment Manager will support the team through the assessment of securitisation transactions, and may manage one or more analysts, stewarding their career development. As a technical leader they will add value to current processes, manage associated risks and drive improvements.
What We Are Looking For
The AOFM is looking for someone with over 10 years' experience in debt capital market financing negotiation and documentation, and a strong understanding of commercial negotiation across multiparty wholesale funding transactions. Specific experience with securitisation products and securitisation investment analysis and performance reporting is desirable. Candidates will bring the confidence to provide high-level technical advice on documentation for the commercial assessment of funding transactions, along with a relevant tertiary qualification in law, finance, commerce, statistics or mathematics.
Qualities and Cultural Fit
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and negotiator, comfortable resolving conflict and building relationships across a range of stakeholders, including originators and other market participants. They will contribute proactively within the team including potentially leading and developing analysts, while ensuring high-quality outputs. Mature judgement, intellectual honesty and a collaborative approach are valued highly at the AOFM.
Applications close: Sunday, 16th August ****.
