Job Description
Full Time
The Food Microbiologist is responsible for performing analytical methods, operating equipment and analytical instruments, and managing sample registration, testing and confirmation.
The Food Microbiologist may have a supervisory role over an area within the laboratory, a particular suite of testing or provide general guidance to the Laboratory Technicians. The position will support method development, laboratory optimisation and contribute to the objectives of the laboratory including PCR setup and reporting.
To be successful in this role you will need:
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to structure thoughts deliberately, logically and directly
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Good laboratory skills and practices
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Science or equivalent; or equivalent experience
At least 1-2 years food laboratory experience; experience in a commercial laboratory is an advantage
Experience using different equipment, instruments and sample preparation techniques
Technical knowledge in the relevant scientific discipline
Good knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel
