Your role
As Director Service Industries, you will lead a critical, state-wide portfolio delivering essential services that keep correctional centres operating safely and efficiently. From food services and logistics to textiles, laundry and inmate buy-ups, you'll drive high-quality, cost-effective outcomes while ensuring strong compliance and operational excellence in a complex environment.
As a senior leader, you'll play a key role in setting strategy, strengthening performance and unlocking opportunities for inmate employment and skills development that support reintegration and reduce reoffending. Leading a diverse workforce and significant resources, you'll champion innovation, accountability and continuous improvement making a tangible impact on operational outcomes and safer communities.
What you'll do
As the Director Service Industries, you will:
Lead the strategic direction and delivery of internal service industries across Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW), ensuring safe, efficient and compliant operations.
Oversee a complex, statewide portfolio including food services, logistics, textiles, laundry and inmate buy-ups, driving quality and value-for-money outcomes.
Ensure compliance with food safety, transport and legislative requirements, embedding strong governance, risk management and quality assurance.
Drive performance and continuous improvement across services, identifying innovative and scalable delivery models.
Maximise inmate employment, vocational training and industry engagement to support reintegration and reduce reoffending.
Provide expert strategic advice to senior executives on service delivery, efficiency and industry opportunities.
Lead significant financial and human resources, building a high performing, accountable and values-driven culture.
What we're looking for
Senior executive experience leading large‐scale operational, service delivery or commercial functions,
ideally within justice, public sector or similarly complex environments.
Demonstrated experience managing large, multi‐faceted portfolios (e.g. logistics, food services, manufacturing, supply chain or facilities) with accountability for end‐to‐end service delivery.
Proven ability to lead diverse, geographically dispersed teams and develop high‐performing senior leaders.
Extensive experience managing compliance and regulatory frameworks, with strong understanding of safety, quality and operational standards (e.g. food safety, transport or industrial environments).
Strategic thinker with a track record of improving operational performance, driving efficiency and embedding continuous improvement in complex environments.
Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing significant budgets, procurement and resource allocation.
Highly developed communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build partnerships across government, industry and suppliers.
Demonstrated commitment to rehabilitation outcomes, with experience or interest in leveraging employment, training or industry partnerships to support reintegration.
Authentic and values‐based leader who fosters a culture of integrity, accountability and continuous improvement.
