About the role
School Infrastructure is delivering new school buildings, major upgrades and maintenance strategies to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
Our team delivers integrated transport planning to support new and upgraded schools across NSW. Working collaboratively with project teams, government agencies and local councils, we develop safe, accessible and sustainable transport solutions for growing communities.

Primary purpose of the role
As the SeniorTransport Planner, you'llplay a keyrole in shapingtransport outcomes fornew and upgradedschools across NSW. Working on adiverse portfolio ofprojects, you'll provideexpert transport planningadvice, undertake technicalanalysis, and developpractical, evidence-basedsolutions that supportsafe, sustainable andintegrated transport networks. Collaborating with specialistsacross government, you'llhelp deliver infrastructurethat meets theneeds ofgrowing communities andimproves access toeducation.
Contribute to the transportplanningfor School Infrastructureprojects, preparing transportassessments, travel plansand strategic advicethat influence projectoutcomes.
Provide expert technicaladvice on transportplanningmatters, ensuring solutionsalign with bestpractice, government policyand community needs.
Analyse complex transportand land useissues using data, research and evidenceto develop practical, integrated transport solutions.
Work closely withplanners, engineers, projectteams,
local councils andgovernment agencies todeliver coordinated transportoutcomes for schoolcommunities.
Identify risks, monitor progress andensure high-quality, timely delivery.
Represent School Infrastructurein stakeholder meetingsand working groups, building robust relationshipsand communicating transportplanning outcomes withconfidence.
About you
You have experiencedelivering transport planningprojects and providingexpert advice ontransport and accessissues.
You enjoy analysingcomplex transport challengesand using datato develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
You build strongrelationships and workeffectively with projectteams, councils andgovernment stakeholders.
You're motivated bymeaningful work andwant to helpdeliver transport outcomesthat improve accessto schools andsupport growing communities.
Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant experience in Transport Engineering, Urban / Regional Planning.
Flexibility to travel to state-wide locations, as required.
A current and valid driver's licence.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Note:
the selection process will include a range of assessment techniques to assist in determining your suitability for the role. Successful candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening for this role which includes a National Criminal History Check.
As a condition of employment, successful candidates not currently employed by the Department must provide a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance number. Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.
