About the role
As an Alcohol and Other drug (AOD) and Mental Health (MH) Co-occurrence Clinician with us, you'll play a vital role in supporting people experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, helping them build resilience, improve wellbeing and create lasting change. Reporting to the Clinical Lead, you'll be
Conducting psychosocial and mental health assessments
Developing and reviewing individual treatment and care plans
Providing evidence-based counselling and brief interventions
Delivering crisis response, safety planning and relapse prevention support
Facilitating and co-facilitating therapeutic groups
Supporting participants, families and carers through recovery journeys
Building strong referral pathways and community partnerships
Maintaining accurate clinical records and reporting requirements
About the program
The aim of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program (DATP) is to achieve improved health and social outcomes for individuals, families, and communities at risk of, or currently affected by, problematic alcohol and other drug use. It supports people at all stages from early intervention to relapse prevention.
Hours and location
The hours are 35 per week. This position is based in Port Macquarie. The role is hybrid working both in our offices and at home. A vehicle is available from a central location for work in the community. The role is funded until 30th June **** with potential for extension.
About you: Selection criteria
Degree qualifications or higher in Counselling, Mental Health Nursing, Social Work or Psychology with membership of a peak body such as AHPRA, AASW, PACFA or ACA (Level 3+)




Current and valid Driver's Licence with a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
Experience providing psychotherapy and trauma informed counselling support using a range of interventions such as psycho-education, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, relaxation strategies, skills training, interpersonal therapy and narrative therapy.
Experience providing evidence-based counselling practice regarding MH and AOD cooccurrence challenges for persons with complex support needs
Demonstrated experience facilitating or co-facilitating groups.
Established networks and relationships with a with a range of referral services across the local community.
Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft suite, a variety of databases and video conferencing tools

This role will be remunerated at SCHCDS Level 5 ($*****ph) with access to salary packaging to potentially increase your take home pay by another 5k.
