Position Summary
The Library and Information Resources Officer is responsible for the development and on-going management of the library and information resources of NAPS. This role ensures that students and staff have access to high-quality learning materials, effective support, and the skills required to engage confidently with information resources that enhance learning and teaching outcomes. Position is for immediate start and for part time employment.
Key Accountabilities
The Library and Information Resources Officer will be responsible for:
Providing high-quality information, advisory, and reference services to students and staff;
Working closely and strategically with other members of the NAPS Team to ensure timely access to appropriate learning resources in a range of formats;
Ensuring users have the skills and confidence to locate, evaluate, and effectively use library and information resources to support their learning and research;
Developing and delivering a high-quality, student-focused, and responsive library learning, teaching, and support service for students, academic staff, and other stakeholders;
Maintaining relationships with publishers, vendors, and database providers to secure access to relevant resources, including e-books, journals, and databases;
Identifying, evaluating, and recommending library databases and e-resources to support NAPS programs; obtaining quotes, negotiating licenses, and managing subscriptions effectively;
Overseeing the acquisition, cataloguing, and maintenance of both print and electronic resources to ensure alignment with academic and institutional needs;




Implementing library policies, procedures, and systems to ensure efficient operations and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards;
Coordinating information literacy and research skills training for students and staff;
Monitoring library usage and evaluating service performance to inform continuous improvement; and
Keeping abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in library and information resource management.
Selection Criteria
Essential
Relevant professional qualifications related to library and information services (corporate experience of five or more years in lieu of an academic business background is also acceptable);
Knowledge and understanding of current learning and teaching strategies in an HE context;
A degree in business, economics or a related field is highly preferred;
Demonstrated reference, instruction, and collection development experience;
Evidence of potential for professional contributions and ongoing professional development;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong student-focused ethic;
Demonstrated collaborative skills;
The ability to shift priorities in a rapidly changing environment; to work across a broad-based constituency, to communicate a positive library/information resources image; and
Have an awareness of current concerns and developments in librarianship and information resources management.
Desirable
At least three years' experience in an academic or related institution or skilled setting in a learning or professional support role;
Experience with library systems, digital resource management, and user access technologies; and
Familiarity with compliance and accreditation requirements in higher education libraries.
