Safe Places for Children are on the lookout for compassionate, committed
Youth Workers
to support young people in out of home care who are experiencing vulnerability and need someone to walk alongside them through life's challenges.
You'll work directly with young people in a 24-hour care residential setting, helping them build resilience, independence, and a strong sense of belonging.
This
permanent full-time role position requires 7-day availability.
Rostered days are allocated on a rotating basis and may vary from fortnight to fortnight, so flexibility to work any day of the week is
essential
.
You'll work an average of
38 hours/week
which is made up of mostly
24-hour sleepover shifts,
along with some
varied shifts,
based on the needs of the young people in care.
Travel within the Brisbane region
is required - a work vehicle is provided while on shift.
Who We're Looking For
You're a resilient, heart-led qualified who brings:
A
Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention
(or equivalent)
A
current Blue Card
A
full Australian Driver's Licence
Full working rights in Australia
A strong ability to build trust with diverse young people
A
Flexibility to work 24-hour shifts and varied shifts each fortnight
Emotional strength and resilience in high-pressure environments
A genuine passion for mentoring and teaching life skills
What You'll Do
Be a stable, supportive presence in the lives of young people
Help develop their life skills, confidence, and independence
Work through tough times together, providing emotional and practical support
Advocate for their needs and wellbeing as part of a wider care team
Collaborate with Case Managers and community services to support long-term outcomes
