About the role
We are seeking an experiencedCivil Pipeline Supervisorto lead the on-site delivery of watermain and sewer-main construction and renewal projects.
This is a hands-on field position involving the supervision of civil crews while remaining actively involved in day-to-day construction activities.
You will coordinate labour, plant, materials and site requirements to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and relevant water-authority standards.
Key responsibilities
Lead and supervise civil pipe-laying crews across active construction sites.
Deliver watermain and sewer-main works ranging from minor projects to major infrastructure renewals.
Coordinate daily labour, plant, materials and subcontractor requirements.
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and service plans.
Supervise the installation of water, sewer and associated pipeline infrastructure.
Oversee the construction, installation and reconstruction of maintenance chambers and manholes.
Set out pipeline alignments, grades and levels using lasers and levelling equipment.
Operate excavators and other construction plant when required.
Monitor site productivity, workmanship and progress against the project program.
Manage excavation, shoring, dewatering and underground-service controls.
Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and site inspections.
Liaise with project managers, engineers, client representatives and water-authority inspectors.
Complete daily site records, permits, inspections and quality documentation.
Maintain compliance with WHS requirements, SWMS, environmental controls and project quality standards.
Identify and report site constraints, delays, variations and additional resource requirements.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
At least three years' experience leading or supervising civil construction crews.
Demonstrated experience delivering watermain and sewer-main construction or renewal works.
Strong practical pipe-laying experience.
Experience with maintenance chambers, manholes, valves, fittings and pipeline connections.
The ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications.
Experience setting out pipeline works using lasers and levelling equipment.
Excavator operating experience.
A sound understanding of excavation safety, underground services and civil construction requirements.
The ability to manage a crew while remaining actively involved in field activities.
Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
Experience working to Sydney Water or equivalent water-authority standards.
A commitment to safe work practices and quality project delivery.
Experience with pipe bursting, HDD, temporary water arrangements or other pipeline renewal methods would be highly regarded.
Essential licences and competencies
Current Australian driver licence.
Construction Industry White Card.
Relevant civil construction or pipe-laying competencies.
HR driver licence.
Excavator competency or verification of competency.
Certificate III or IV in Civil Construction.
First Aid certification.
Plumbing or water-industry qualifications.
