Reporting to the Contracts and Procurement Team Leader you will assist with the delivery of best practice procurement, sustainable procurement and contract management, maintaining the probity of Council's decision-making processes and the implementation of legislative and procedural requirements.

About the Role
As theProcurement Risk & Sustainability Officer, you will:
Lead the development and implementation of Council's sustainable procurement, modern slavery and social procurement initiatives.
Develop and improve procurement systems, processes and tools that strengthen governance, compliance and risk management.
Provide specialist procurement and contract management advice to staff across the organisation.
Design and deliver engaging training programs and workshops on procurement, contract management, sustainability and modern slavery.
Monitor procurement activities to ensure compliance with legislation, Council policies and best practice.
Conduct supply chain mapping and due diligence activities to identify procurement risks and opportunities.
Promote environmentally responsible procurement practices and initiatives that support Indigenous businesses, social enterprises and disability organisations.
Monitor, evaluate and report on procurement sustainability and compliance outcomes.
Support procurement activities including sourcing, vendor creation, reporting, compliance reviews and exemption requests.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications in Procurement, Contract Management, Sustainable Procurement, Law, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in procurement within government and/or the private sector.
Strong knowledge of modern slavery legislation and its practical application.
Experience implementing sustainable procurement, social procurement or ESG initiatives.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, ability to prioritise deadlines and exceptional organisational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience using enterprise and records management systems.
Knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act and public sector procurement requirements.
Experience in project management, risk management and procurement data analysis.
