Assistant Cook - childcare centre (5 days per week or job share)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Chef to support the preparation of nutritious meals for the children at our Early Learning Centre.

The Role
We are looking for an Assistant Chef to help provide nutritious meals for the children at our Early Learning Centre. This is an ongoing position, working 5 days per week, 6 hours per day, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Working alongside our Chef, you will help ensure that children receive healthy, high-quality meals in a protected, clean and well-organised kitchen.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation and serving of nutritious meals and snacks.
Supporting the safe management of food allergies, intolerances and special dietary requirements.
Helping maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen at all times.
Assisting with food safety procedures, including cleaning schedules,



temperature monitoring and record keeping.
Supporting stock rotation, food storage and general kitchen organisation.
Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas.
Working collaboratively with the Chef and educators to ensure meal service runs smoothly.
Assisting the Chef with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and providing support during periods of leave or absence where appropriate.
About You
The ideal applicant will:
Hold a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or an equivalent qualification), or have relevant experience working in a commercial kitchen.
Hold a current Employee Working with Children Check (or be able to obtain one before commencing employment).
Have an understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
Have experience managing food allergies and special dietary requirements, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.
Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently as part of a team.
Take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen.
