Social Media Specialist
Mascot | Part time, Permanent | Office-Based

We are an established Australian food retailer, hospitality group and wholesaler with a portfolio of premium brands operating across retail stores, restaurants, ecommerce, food production and wholesale markets.
We are looking for a creative, commercially minded Social Media Specialist to execute engaging content across our brand portfolio and turn real business activity into compelling social storytelling.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being where the action is, capturing products, people, craftsmanship, venues, launches and behind-the-scenes moments as they happen.
Working from our Mascot office and business locations is a non-negotiable requirement of this position. There is no work-from-home arrangement available.
About the Role
Reporting to the Group Marketing Manager, you will manage the day-to-day execution of social media content across multiple premium food, retail and hospitality brands.
You will work closely with the Marketing Executive, designers, operational teams and business leaders to deliver content that supports campaigns, launches, customer engagement and commercial priorities.
This role combines content planning, photography, videography, copywriting, community management, trend analysis and performance reporting.
You will need to be comfortable moving between office, retail, restaurant, ecommerce and production environments to capture authentic and timely content.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Execution
Plan, schedule and publish content across multiple brand social media accounts
Deliver campaign content in line with marketing briefs, launches and commercial priorities
Maintain accurate content calendars and consistent posting schedules
Write engaging captions aligned with each brand's tone of voice
Ensure content consistently meets premium brand and presentation standards
Content Creation and Production
Capture high-quality photography and video content using mobile devices and other available equipment
Create in-store, behind-the-scenes, product, food, craft and team-focused content
Coordinate simple content shoots and support larger creative productions
Collaborate with designers and other marketing team members
Edit and adapt content for different platforms, audiences and formats
Tailor storytelling across retail, hospitality, ecommerce, production and wholesale environments
Social Media Strategy and Trends
Monitor emerging social media trends, platform updates and competitor activity
Recommend new content ideas,



formats and campaign opportunities
Identify ways to improve reach, engagement and audience growth
Test new creative approaches, storytelling styles and platform features
Translate social trends into relevant, commercially appropriate content
Community Management
Monitor comments, direct messages and customer engagement across platforms
Respond to customer interactions promptly and in line with brand standards
Escalate complaints, service issues and reputational risks through the appropriate channels
Help build active and engaged online communities around each brand
Performance and Reporting
Track engagement, reach, audience growth and content performance
Prepare monthly social media performance insights
Deliver post-campaign reporting with key results and learnings
Identify content opportunities based on performance data
Use insights to improve future content planning and execution
Broader Marketing Support
Support campaign rollouts, events, activations and product launches
Assist with email marketing content and other marketing activities where required
Provide social media coverage at relevant business events and locations
Act as a flexible, hands-on marketing resource across the broader team
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured against clear performance expectations, including:
At least 95% adherence to agreed content calendars and campaign deadlines
Year-on-year social media engagement growth of approximately 15% to 20%
Consistent delivery of content aligned with brand tone, audience and campaign objectives
Minimal revisions required before content approval
Monthly and post-campaign reporting delivered accurately and on time
One to two relevant new content ideas implemented each month
Responses to social media comments and messages within 24 hours during business days
About You
You are organised, creative and commercially aware. You understand that effective social media is not simply about producing attractive content, it must support customer engagement, brand positioning and business outcomes.
You are comfortable working independently, managing competing deadlines and taking ownership of execution.




You will also be willing to spend time across our offices and operational locations to capture the people, products and experiences that make our brands distinctive.
Essential Experience and Skills
At least two years of experience managing brand social media accounts
Strong copywriting and written communication skills
Demonstrated understanding of brand management and tone of voice
Strong visual judgement and an appreciation for premium presentation
Experience creating photography and video content for social media
Confidence capturing content using mobile devices
Ability to coordinate and direct simple content shoots
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
A proactive, reliable and solutions-focused approach
A data-driven mindset and understanding of social media performance metrics
Desirable Experience
Experience within food, hospitality, retail, ecommerce or consumer brands
Photography, videography and video editing skills
Experience with social media scheduling and analytics platforms
Basic graphic design skills
Experience collaborating with designers, agencies or creative teams

Important Work Location Requirement
This is an office-based and operationally connected position.
You will be required to work from our Mascot office and attend relevant retail, hospitality, production and business locations to create content and support campaigns.
Office attendance is non-negotiable. This role does not offer working from home or a hybrid working arrangement.
Performance and Development
The successful candidate will participate in:
Monthly performance check-ins with their manager
Quarterly KPI reviews
Ongoing feedback, coaching and development
Clear accountability for content delivery, brand standards, engagement and reporting
High performance is expected. Where outcomes fall below expectations, timely feedback, support and corrective action will be provided.
