For more information, please visit our website: More Than a Project Officer Role This role brings together three connected programs under our Access and Inclusion team: Safe Stays, which supports people experiencing homelessness in Katherine to access safe accommodation and return to their home communities; Living Proud, which supports people to maintain their tenancy and live safely on country; and Healthy Homes, which supports people through audits, advocacy and education to improve the home for good health.
It's genuinely impactful work — KWHB is contracted to support 270 individuals through Safe Stays and a further 207 through Living Proud each year,



and every one of those numbers is a person you'll help move toward stability.
You'll work under the close guidance of our Safe Stays and Living Proud Coordinator, and won't be doing this alone, you'll be buddied up with an experienced team member for community visits from the outset, building your confidence and connections at your own pace.
Your Impact Reporting to the Manager Access and Inclusion, and working under the guidance of our Safe Stays and Living Proud Coordinator, you'll provide culturally safe, client-centred support to Aboriginal people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
You'll split your time roughly evenly between Katherine and remote communities (around two weeks per month), travelling by road and light aircraft.

To Qualify, You Will Need Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people in the housing or social services sectorStrong communication and community engagement skills, with the ability to work respectfully and collaboratively across diverse stakeholdersThe ability to build effective relationships with accommodation providers, transport operators, government agencies and community organisationsWell-developed time management skills to manage a diverse caseload in a multi-disciplinary teamThe ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to travel to remote communitiesA current or obtainable NT Driver's Licence, Working with Children Clearance and Criminal History Check The Following Will Also Be Highly Valued A qualification in Aboriginal Health, Community Services, Community Development, Social Work, AOD or Mental HealthExperience living and working in remote Aboriginal communitiesExperience in public health, health promotion or client education, particularly around housing and healthy homes As our ideal candidate, you'll bring a collaborative, adaptable and culturally respectful approach — someone who's comfortable getting out into community, building genuine relationships, and advocating for the people you support.
