Fixed term, full time, day/evening shifts (with on‐call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible, for a three year period.

About the Role

/n

We seek a motivated and experienced Clinical Lead – Emergency Medicine for Mersey Community Hospital (MCH), working with the Clinical Director – Emergency Medicine to provide high level strategic leadership and direction, ensuring resources are used efficiently, services are integrated and the highest quality of service delivery is achieved in line with hospital policy, service standards and financial targets.

The Clinical Lead will also provide specialist emergency medical care to patients attending the Department of Emergency Medicine at MCH in Latrobe, with some shifts at North West Regional Hospital, Burnie.

With approximately 30,000 presentations annually, the MCH Emergency Department treats a broad range of patients and is staffed by FACEM and FACRRM/FRACGP practitioners. The hospital offers an undergraduate general medical education program and is a hub for the EMET program, providing outreach opportunities to remote areas.

Eligibility

/n

/n

- Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) – required

/n

- Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) with relevant Emergency Medicine skills (encouraged)

/n

- Preference for candidates who have completed the ACEM Associateship in Emergency Medicine Advanced Training Program (AEMTP) and possess critical care experience

Responsibilities

/n

/n

- Provide high level strategic leadership and direction for the Emergency Department in alignment with hospital and departmental policy.

/n

- Ensure efficient utilisation of resources and integration of services to achieve financial targets.

/n

- Deliver specialist emergency medical care at MCH and occasionally at NWRH.

/n

- Support the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program and contribute to training of residents and registrars.

/n

- Participate in and contribute to EMET program outreach activities.

/n/n

Qualifications

/n

/n

- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.

/n





- Strong clinical background in emergency medicine with proven experience in a tertiary or regional hospital setting.

/n

- Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning and resource management skills.

/n

- Ability to train and mentor junior staff, residents and trainees.

/n/n

Desirable Requirements

- Current driver's licence.

/n

- Experience in rural or remote health care settings.

/n/n

Salary and Benefits

- Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 – Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 ($222,789 – $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation).

/n
