The InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto is an icon of luxury and a beacon of sophistication in the heart of Melbourne.

As a Handyperson , in our friendly Engineering team, you will play an important role in ensuring our hotel remains safe, functional, and maintained to the highest standards. Working behind the scenes, you will help create exceptional guest experiences by ensuring all hotel facilities, equipment, and guest rooms are operating efficiently and presented to luxury hotel standards.

Your day to day

You will carry out general maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, and basic air-conditioning maintenance. Respond to guest maintenance requests, perform preventative maintenance checks, troubleshoot equipment issues, and assist with the setup and movement of furniture and equipment when required. Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments, you will ensure maintenance concerns are resolved promptly and professionally while adhering to all hotel health and safety standards.

What we need from you





Full and unrestricted work rights in Australia

Some experience in a maintenance, handyperson, engineering, or similar role

Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards

Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, standing, and working in various environments

Previous experience in a hotel or similar environment is desirable

Ability to work rotating roster (penalty rates will apply)
