National College of Vocational Education – Melbourne VIC
We're not a big corporate machine. We're a tight, experienced team that prides itself on small cohorts, dedicated trainers and rapid response times. Our clients stay because we deliver — and we're looking for someone who shares that commitment.
We're looking for someone who already knows this world — and who can hunt for new business in it.
You've worked in or around the VET sector. You understand employment services and you know how to open a corporate door. You know what a Workforce Australia provider needs from a training partner — and you're just as comfortable pitching a nationally recognised qualification to an employer, a corporate L&D; team or an industry body. If that's you, read on.
NCVE is one of the South Coast's most trusted Registered Training Organisations, delivering nationally recognised qualifications across aged care, community services, hospitality, supply chain and business. With 25+ years' experience and a strong reputation for quality outcomes, we're expanding into Victoria — and we need a sharp, experienced Business Development Manager to plant our flag and grow with us.
This is a true new-business role. You'll own the Victorian market — Melbourne metro and regional Victoria — and grow it on two fronts: employment services (Workforce Australia, IEA, RAES and the community organisations around them) and B2B / corporate (employers, industry partners and workforce-development programs that need quality training delivered). You'll be the face of NCVE in a brand-new territory, with the full backing of an established RTO behind you.
What you'll be doing
Hunting and winning current business across Victoria — proactively identifying, pursuing and closing opportunities, not just servicing what walks in the door
Developing partnerships with employment service providers (Workforce Australia, IEA, RAES) and community organisations
Building a B2B / corporate pipeline — employers, industry bodies, corporate L&D; teams and enterprises that need nationally recognised training for their workforce
Representing NCVE at meetings, industry events and networking opportunities across Melbourne and regional Victoria
Working closely with our operations and training teams to ensure client needs translate into great student outcomes
Reporting on pipeline activity and contributing directly to NCVE's Victorian growth strategy
What we're looking for
Strong B2B sales / business development experience with a genuine hunter mentality — you've built pipelines from scratch, chased down opportunities and consistently converted them into long-term contracts
RTO or VET sector experience is essential — you understand how registered training works, how qualifications are funded, and what compliance means for clients
Background across both employment services and corporate / B2B markets — you know the Workforce Australia, IEA, DES, NDIS landscape and you can sell into employers and industry
A natural relationship builder who can connect with employment consultants, training managers, community org leaders and corporate decision-makers alike
Comfortable managing your own territory and schedule — this is a road role that rewards self‑starters
Based in Melbourne (regional Victoria considered), with the ability to travel across the state
What's in it for you
$100,000 – $115,000
Flexible working — primarily field‑based, with WFH options
A genuine seat at the table — you'll help shape NCVE's entire Victorian expansion
Supportive, no‑BS team culture led by people who care about outcomes
The backing of an established RTO with 25+ years' experience and a strong industry reputation
