7d ago , from SEEK Grad Graduate Positions

FTI Consulting is home to one of the world’s leading economic and financial consulting practices, helping clients understand today’s economic, financial, and regulatory opportunities and challenges.

We provide evidence-based critical insight and analysis on a range of economic issues impacting the community. We advise the public and private sectors, regulators, law firms and international agencies.

As part of a multidisciplinary business advisory firm, our Economic & Financial Consulting team can draw on FTI Consulting’s collective industry and technical expertise to address the many interconnected issues clients face across the business cycle.

You will start your career learning from highly regarded professionals. Our Australian professionals have senior level government, regulator and public service experience across multiple jurisdictions. Our global team includes former chief economists at the SEC, EU Commission and Hong Kong Competition Commission.

The FTI Consulting Economic & Financial Consulting (EFC) practice in Australia principally works across the following practice areas:

- Government

EFC’s Government practice assists public sector and public sector adjacent clients in Australia and beyond, as well as private sector entities that interface with government. Economics is the language of public policy and the Government practice area provides the evidence base to support informed decision‑making across the policy life‑cycle through policy development, implementation and evaluation. This includes the development of key evidence for informed policy-making such as business cases, economic impact assessments, regulatory impact statements as well as bespoke economic modelling to understand market dynamics and provide forecasts.

- Energy

Our internationally recognised energy practice helps clients understand energy and carbon markets, regulatory frameworks, and conduct commercial analysis. The Energy advisory practice assists clients across the electricity and gas markets in Australia including state and federal governments, market bodies, developers, investors, network operators and retailers. Our team, which includes economists, engineers, government and regulatory specialists, commercial and strategy advisors and modellers; brings together a range of diverse skillsets to help our clients navigate, adapt and capitalise on the energy transition.

- Regulated Industries

The Regulated Industries practice area focuses on advisory services for the various sectors where prices, access or returns are governed by economic regulatory frameworks including telecommunications, transport, water, healthcare and more.

We support a wide range of clients from regulators to businesses as well as policymakers in navigating these regulatory frameworks and assist them in setting the appropriate market rules and settings, reporting on the suitability and effectiveness of existing regulation, as well as preparing submissions and documents to give effect to efficient investment and competition.

- Disputes and Economic Advisory

The Disputes and Economic Advisory practice delivers independent expert evidence and rigorous economic analysis for clients navigating complex commercial, regulatory, and legal issues. We support clients and legal firms in resolving complex commercial disputes through independent analysis and expert witness advisory services across a range of sectors. We further combine deep technical expertise with commercial judgement to deliver tailored, data‑driven economic advice. We help organisations to make decisions in uncertain and contested environments.

- Pacific

The Pacific practice area provides advisory services for a variety of clients in the Asia Pacific region. This includes public sector clients like the Papua New Guinea, Timor‑Leste, Fiji and Samoa governments, State‑Owned Enterprises, and private sector clients like investors, developers, and operators. Projects can cover a variety of industries, such as utilities, resources, and agriculture, as well as a range of services such as economic impact analysis, financial modelling, business case development, ESG advisory services, and infrastructure investment funding procurement.
