Overview

Assistant House Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Warrnambool, VIC, AU with MacKillop Family Services. The role supports the Out of Home Care Program and reports to the Residential House Supervisor. The position involves stepping into leadership when the House Supervisor is not present, providing direction, support, and oversight to the residential care team to create a safe, stable, and therapeutic home environment for young people.

Responsibilities

- Provide leadership in the absence of the House Supervisor, guiding the residential care team to deliver high-quality care.
- Collaborate with the House Supervisor and Residential Care Coordinator to ensure consistent, therapeutic care within the Out of Home Care Program.
- Foster a safe and stable home environment for young people, including those with trauma and complex needs.
- Support team members to perform at their best, modelling calm, thoughtful decision-making and effective communication.

Key Selection Criteria / Qualifications

- Leadership experience in any sector or strong experience in residential care with a desire to move into leadership.
- A relevant Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, or related qualification.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the residential care field.
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture, values, and the challenges faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
- Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma and present with complex needs.
- Skills in developing or implementing behaviour support strategies for children and adolescents.

- Hourly rate based on SCHADS Award Level 4, dependent on qualification and experience.

Additional Information

MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application. First aid certification with at least 6 months validity is required.
