Maternal Child Health Nurse

Join CGH as a permanent part‑time Maternal Child Health Nurse. The role supports families with children from birth to six years of age, maximising health, wellbeing, learning, development and safety outcomes.

CGH serves the City of Sale and surrounding areas, offering a comprehensive range of health and aged care services. The MCH team operates across multiple locations, including Sale, Maffra, Rosedale, Heyfield and Stratford.

MCH Service at CGH

The MCH service is staffed by nurses who work independently with families while maintaining a strong team approach. The team collaborates closely with agencies such as The Orange Door, Child Protection, paediatricians and allied health professionals to provide family‑focused, integrated multidisciplinary support.

Duties

The Maternal & Child Health Nurse adheres to the Department of Health Maternal and Child Health Service Framework, practicing in accordance with legislation, professional standards and program guidelines.

Responsibilities

- Provide holistic, family‑centred support to families with young children, promoting child health, development and wellbeing.
- Deliver health promotion and education, including family support, health surveillance, and early identification and intervention for health and developmental concerns in children and families from birth to six years of age.




- Maintain accurate clinical records and data reporting, support secure practice through infection prevention and control, and participate in professional development and continuous learning.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

- Registered nurse & registered midwife holding current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.
- Post Graduate Maternal & Child Health qualification.
- Proven and significant experience as a Maternal & Child Health nurse.
- Understanding of and experience applying the MCH Key Ages & Stages Framework.
- Preferred leadership/coordination experience.
- Current driver’s licence (evidence to be provided).
- Clear police check regarding any criminal record, required prior to appointment and updated every three years.
- Clear Working with Children Check.
