STEPS Group Australia is looking for a compassionate, resilient Recovery Worker to support people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness.
At STEPS, our Community Subacute Transition and Recovery Service (CSTARS) is a community-based residential mental health service that supports adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. We provide recovery-focused, non-clinical support to help people build confidence, develop life skills, and strengthen community connections. Focusing on person-centred recovery, CSTARS empowers individuals to identify and achieve their goals in a supportive environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide one-on-one recovery-focused support, coaching, and encouragement to help participants work towards their goals
- Facilitate group activities and recovery-based programs that promote wellbeing and independence
- Collaborate with Queensland Health, internal teams, families, carers, and external stakeholders to deliver coordinated, person-centred support
- Support participants to develop life skills, access community services, and strengthen social connections
- Assist with daily living activities within the residential setting while providing a secure and supportive environment
What You'll Bring:
- A genuine passion for supporting people experiencing mental health challenges, with a strengths-based,
recovery-focused approach
- The ability to build meaningful relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
- A non-judgmental, empathetic, and resilient mindset
- Highly Regarded:
- Experience in mental health, disability, community services, or a related field
- A Certificate IV in Mental Health, Peer Support, or similar qualification
- Lived experience of mental health recovery
- Mandatory:
- Current Australian working rights, NDIS Worker Screening, Working with Children Check (Blue Card), and a valid open C-Class Driver Licence
- Proof of vaccinations (MMR, pertussis, varicella, zoster, hepatitis B)
