Master Builders Apprenticeship Services (MBAS) is looking for a Senior Recruitment Officer to join our Group Training Organisation team, based in Norwest. This is a hands‑on recruitment role with a leadership component — you'll be sourcing and placing apprentices and trainees with host employers, while also managing a Recruitment Officer and helping shape how our recruitment function operates.
About the role
You’ll own the full recruitment pipeline — sourcing candidates through job boards, schools and community networks, screening applications, running interviews, and coordinating aptitude testing and reference checks. From there, you’ll match candidates to host employer vacancies and see them through to a smooth start on site. Alongside the candidate‑facing work, you’ll provide day‑to‑day leadership to a Recruitment Officer, including coaching and workload allocation, and bring a strategic lens to campaign design so we’re building candidate pipelines ahead of demand.
What you’ll be doing
- Sourcing and screening candidates for apprenticeships and traineeships
- Matching candidates to host employer roles and coordinating placement logistics
- Leading and coaching a direct report, including handling escalations
- Designing and running targeted recruitment campaigns
- Driving improvements across recruitment processes and candidate experience
- Feeding market insights back into workforce planning and business development
What we’re looking for
- Experience in recruitment, sourcing or a candidate-facing role (trades/construction or apprenticeship background highly regarded)
- Solid communication skills and the ability to build rapport with both candidates and host employers
- Comfortable managing a high-volume pipeline and juggling competing deadlines
- Confident with recruitment systems/CRMs and Microsoft Office
- Current driver’s licence, with willingness to travel to host employer sites
- Current white card, or willingness to get one
- Experience leading or mentoring a team member
- Understanding of the Group Training model, existing networks in building and construction, and experience working to funded program or government targets are all a bonus, though not essential.
If you’re looking for a recruitment role where you can genuinely shape the process and step into some leadership, we’d love to hear from you.
