Located only 30 minutes from Newcastle, Maitland Private maintains a community‑focused feel, while being able to deliver high quality health services to the Maitland and Hunter Valley regions. The hospital encompasses 185 beds, 6 operating theatres, 10 bed ICU, with associated rehabilitation, medical and surgical Wards. Our services include two major medical centres, a dedicated mental health unit, an on‑site cancer centre including radiation oncology, radiology practice and pathology laboratory.

Your new role as Mental Health Nurse:
Our Mental Health facility has recently expanded to 68 voluntary inpatient beds. With construction now complete, we have various opportunities available for highly motivated and experienced EEN’s and RN’s to work within our friendly, dynamic and supportive Mental Health Service, which also offers a co‑located Outpatient Day Program. Full‑time, part‑time and casual opportunities available (day and night shift).
About you (essential criteria):
- Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
- Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA
- Australian permanent resident status or equivalent work rights required.
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience within a Mental Health Unit
- Sound clinical knowledge with demonstrated planning and evaluation skills.
- A commitment to customer service and quality improvement and ongoing professional development
- A positive attitude and an adaptable approach to problem solving and decision making within a cohesive team environment.
- Organisational skills with an ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical timeframes
- Strong collaborative interpersonal skills with well‑developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Immunisation evidence and serology report in accordance with NSW Health.
- An understanding of NSQHS and ability to apply to clinical care.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing or working towards.
- Experience facilitating groups including psychoeducation, CBT, DBT or similar
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance as relevant to nursing practice.
- Familiarity with desktop applications, including WebPAS, HoNOS, DASS & PEX data highly regarded
- Understanding of Private Hospital landscape.
