Counsel / Senior Counsel at vow. About the role Vow is seeking a legal qualified to provide parental leave coverage for a 10-month period, starting October 2026 and concluding at the end of July 2027. This role serves as the primary legal contact for the business, managing commercial, regulatory, and intellectual property matters while maintaining continuity for our operations. We are open to candidates seeking either full-time or part-time arrangements.

What you'll do

- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including supply contracts, NDAs, material transfer agreements, and customer partnerships.
- Support regulatory submissions and market entry strategies for our food products.
- Manage our trade mark portfolio and coordinate with external IP specialists.
- Maintain and update internal contract templates and legal playbooks, such as tasting waivers.
- Act as the main point of contact for daily legal inquiries, resolving issues independently or escalating to external counsel when necessary.
- Provide regular status updates on legal projects to internal stakeholders.
- Participate in the Work Health and Safety Committee as per its charter.

Requirements





- Admitted to practice law in Australia with a current practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience gained in-house or in private practice.
- Proficiency in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload and make pragmatic decisions with limited information.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain legal risks to non-legal staff.
- Experience with organizational and prioritization tasks.

Nice to have

- Prior exposure to regulatory work within the food, health, or biotech sectors, particularly regarding product approvals.
- Familiarity with IP and trade mark management.

Practical notes

The position is based at our Alexandria warehouse campus, which includes lab facilities, bike storage, and shower services. We are a dog-friendly office and offer various internal social clubs. The role requires a candidate who can work autonomously and provide a clean, documented handover upon the return of the permanent Legal Counsel in July 2027.
